Goulburn composting facility to go ahead despite concern fro local councils over plan

Updated

A landfill operated by Goulburn Community Recycling has been cancelled over safety concerns.

The composting facility at Goulburn Community Recycling on South East Maitland Street in Melbourne’s north-west, has had a few minor safety issues in the past, including one fire in 2015, but has been under maintenance since then.

The decision has come after the local authority’s environmental adviser found the facility was safe.

They are working with Goulburn Community Recycling to ensure it will remain safe and will comply with local regulations.

Cllr Brian Murphy from the council said the council had always accepted it would take more work to ensure a safe facility was provided.

“So it seems like they’ve actually considered that it will require some investment to allow them to continue to do what they’re doing, and I think that’s a really important step for우리카지노 the community,” he said.

“But we can’t just ignore a fire at that landfill… we don’t want it to happen anywhere else.”

Goulburn Community Recycling says the concerns about the facility are based on previous experiences with the facility as it is an older facility with a history of previous fires.

“It’s really just safety first,” Cllr Murphy said.

The Goulburn Community Recycling facility at Goulburn Community Recycling will shut next month.
